Yahoo unveils new homepage (finally)

(ip-192.com): After almost one year of testing, Yahoo is expected to launch a new design for its homepage today, giving users more control over what appears there.

The new page sports a more streamlined look and makes it easier for users to access third-party applications and content, social networks including Twitter and Facebook, and Web sites in addition to their favorite content and services from Yahoo.

The page is still dominated by news and headlines, although it will be a bit cleaner looking.

Yahoo's homepage is second in visits by U.S. Internet users behind Google's search page, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The new page is rolled out as an option for Yahoo's 100 million U.S. users this week. Another 300 million users in the rest of the world will see it later in the year.
