Windows SBS 2008 Premium extends functionality
The Premium version of SBS 2008 adds licenses for SQL Server 2008 and a second Windows Server 2008 to the standard version. While the main function for the second Windows Server 2008 could be to run as a Domain Controller in a remote office, the server could be used as a Terminal Services server, opening up thin-client and point-of-sale options for many deployments.
In addition, the box can take workload off the SBS server that runs Exchange, SharePoint Services, and Windows Server Update Services. Windows SBS 2008 Premium runs on 64-bit hardware only.
For most small companies, Small Business Server 2008 will provide the basic functions necessary in a package that is easy to set up and administer, and that integrates readily with Microsoft Windows Vista and XP clients. The premium version only extends this functionality.
