Microsoft: Anti-Linux training for Best Buy?

Redmond (ip-192.com): Microsoft is deliberately attacking and distorting facts about Linux, if posts and screenshots that surfaced earlier this week on the Internet are indeed authentic and true. The reports claim that Microsoft has produced anti-Linux training material for Best Buy retail staff.

To proof the point, a Best Buy employee has posted screenshots which originally posted on the Overclock.net forum (link is here), according to the TG Daily. The employee claims that as a reward for undergoing the training, Best Buy staff is being offered cheap copies of Windows 7.

It looks like that the campaign is geared towards Netbooks, a new computer category that cannot run Windows Vista due to limitations in the processor and amount of memory used to power the units. Netbooks are smaller and less powerful than laptops. They are mainly used for web-surfing. Microsoft is selling its aging Windows XP with Netbooks, but Linux is gaining ground.

Companies like Intel and Google are working on Linux-based operating systems to close the gap left by Microsoft for the time being. The upcoming Windows 7 operating system supposedly works on Netbooks.
