0

Hannover (ip-192.com): 15 non-commercial free software projects are showcasing their work in the Open Source Project Lounge at CeBIT 2010 until 6 March. Alongside world-renowned projects such as the "PostgresQL" database, this year's international competition jury also selected a number of prgrams submitted by newcomers, including navigation software "Navit" and ERP software "project-open."

Also featured at CeBIT 2010 are the online publishing software "WordPress", the desktop project "LiMux", the free programming language "Perl" and the combined Linux-Open Solaris server "Nexenta".

The main sponsor of the Open Source Project Lounge is the web browser project Mozilla. One of the highlights of the Mozilla presentation is Fennec, the Firefox version for mobile phones. Other topics are covered at the booth.

Another popular attraction at the Open Source Forum is Klaus Knopper, the inventor of Linux distribution Knoppix. He will be demonstrating the version 6.3 of his operating system at CeBIT, according to a press release by Deutsche Messe AG.

All presentations of the Linux New Media Awards will be available after the show in the online archive of the Linux Magazine and Linux Pro Magazine.
