Waterloo (ip-192.com): A new application co-developed by Twitter and Research in Motion (RIM) will allow BlackBerry users to interact with the popular micro-blogging site "on the go." Currently available as a public beta, the application can be set to notify users of new tweets or mentions.
Through an intuitive menu bar, users can upload pictures taken with their BlackBerry, create new posts or join an existing conversation, post links from the BlackBerry browser, reply to tweets, and re-tweet interesting conversations.
The application allows users to create, edit and view Twitter lists and send direct messages using RIM's push service. A ping message notifies BlackBerry owners when they receive a direct message.
Trend searches are possible, and users can easily follow friends. Avatar profiles are magnified and optimized for BlackBerry displays. A data plan is necessary to use the new application. The device software needs to be updated to firmware version 4.5 or later.
Users can download the application here. An extensive user guide, available as an Adobe Acrobat file explains in detail how to install, configure, and use the new application.
