iPhone OS 4.0: Facebook integrated?

0

Cupertino (ip-192.com): Apple plans to integrate Facebook into the upcoming iPhone OS 4.0 release, according to a report from the Gunning for Safety blog. The blog says that the developer preview of the iPhone OS 4.0 contains code that will allow users to set up their Facebook account just like a Google Gmail account. This should enable users to easily add Facebook events to the iPhone calendar.

In the near future, it seems like Apple is going to try to add Facebook to that list," Apollo writes in the Gunning for Safety blog. "… it seems strange to put Facebook on a list of email providers at first, but when you think about it, the iPhone can use Facebook's contacts, profile pictures, events, messaging framework, and so much more. In fact, that is exactly what Apple seems to be playing around …"

While no official confirmation was available from Apple and Facebook, the move could be the first step to integrate social networking into the iPhone.
