Salesforce buys Jigsaw to move to Cloud 2

San Francisco (ip-192.com): Salesforce.com announced that it entered into a definite agreement to acquire Jigsaw, an online business directory, for about $142 million.

"The combination of Jigsaw and salesforce.com will allow companies to easily find, purchase and manage data that is seamlessly integrated with their CRM apps," Salesforce.com said in press release. "With Jigsaw and salesforce.com, data service providers like D&B, Hoover’s and LexisNexis have the opportunity to expand existing partnerships to deliver new services in the cloud."

Jigsaw utilizes a user generated database that is continually updated and contains 18 million contacts from over 3.5 million companies. Inc. Magazine called Jigsaw the world’s largest rolodex. In 2009, the company launched Jigsaw Data Fusion, a cloud-based automated system for acquiring and managing CRM records.

"Salesforce.com is excited to bring the data services industry into the era of Cloud 2," said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO, salesforce.com. "With Jigsaw, we’ll make it as easy as Wikipedia to source data, as easy as iTunes to buy data and as easy as Facebook to stay updated as the data changes."
