Blippy: Credit card numbers exposed

Palo Alto (ip-192.com): Credit card numbers of Blippy users were exposed in Google search results. The social media site that lets users automatically post their purchases to the Internet disclosed credit card numbers of some of its users, VentureBeat reports. The blogging site says in a post that "a fairly obvious search for ‘from card’ this p2010042302.jpgmorning returned 127 results that included full credit card numbers."

Other reports indicate that the Google search engine cached four credit card numbers. "While we take this very seriously and it is a headache for those involved (to whom we apologize and are contacting), it's important to remember that you're never responsible if someone uses your credit card without your permission," Blippy co-founder Philip Kaplan says on the companies blog site. "We are hugely focused on security and are making efforts to bolster our security to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again."

After being contacted by Blippy, Google took the information off the Internet. Palo Alto based Blippy just received $11.2 million in new funding from several venture capital firms.
