Clonezilla is a disaster recovery, disk cloning, disk imaging and deployment solution. The current version 1.2.6-24 is based on the Linux kernel 2.6.32-23 and the Debian Sid repository. The application competes with popular proprietary commercial packages such as Norton Ghost and Symantec’s Ghost Corporate Edition. The Server Edition Clonezilla SE allows users to clone installations to many computers using unicasting and multicasting. The program can be used to backup and restore a single computer or a single partition on the media to a separate medium device. The cloned data can be saved as an image-file or as a duplicated copy of the data to locally attached storage device, a SSH server, Samba Server or a NFS file-share. The cloned file can then be used to restore the original when needed. The application increases efficiency by saving and restoring only used blocks in the hard disk. Users can run Clonezilla from a USB-flash-drive, a CD-ROM, or a DVD-ROM. The Server Edition is available for download here. The same site offers a link to the Life Edition for deployments on a smaller scale.
