• The Network Security Specialist implements, manages, monitors and administers network security;

• Safeguards the network against unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure;

• Designs, implements and enforces network security policies or security plans for data, software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and computer installations;

• Helps customers to protect corporate data against unauthorized disclosure, accidental or intentional loss, or unauthorized modification.

While most of the work can be done trough remote desktop or a VPN connection, some situations may require an on-location response.

Responsibilities:

• Analyzing and administering network security systems (LAN/WAN, telecommunications, voice systems) and/or other IT systems;

• Continually monitoring of network activities for insider/outsider and other threats using router SYSLOG traffic and various intrusion detection methods/software;

• "Change Management" and security management to include analysis of Cisco router configuration files, management of Ports and Services Requests (PSRs) and review of configuration logs for accurate documentation of configuration changes;

• Password and Account management, auditing and Log verification, anti-virus updates, as well as system backup responsibilities and other basic configuration tasks.

Additional Duties may include tasks within the scope of the contract's statement of work as determined by the Program Manager.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years network security experience with a Bachelors Degree. Additional experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience with router SYSLOGS, security auditing, system backups and hands-on with both Windows and UNIX (Linux) workstations.

Knowledge of networking topologies, TCP/IP protocols, router theory, router/switch security principles, Cisco IOS, and the ability to interpret Cisco router configuration files, access control lists, subnetting, and wildcard masks. Knowledge of DMZ and Firewalls.

CCNA, Network or Security certifications and background with intrusion detection software desirable.
